 SECURITY
For your peace of mind

As a bank, on-line security is of great importance. Laiki Bank uses industry standard security which is constantly reviewed to provide upgraded security measures. To protect our service, we partner with industry leaders to follow some of the most stringent security standards.

Encryption Security

Laiki eBank uses browser encryption (SSL - Secure Socket Layers), so that all transmissions of customer information are encrypted using 128-bit encryption, which is currently the strongest encryption level that is generally available.

Laiki eBank uses the 128-bit (International-grade) encryption provided by Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Netscape's Communicator and Navigator browsers through SSL. The SSL protocol ensures the authenticity of client and server as well as the integrity and confidentiality of the data transmitted.

Other Security Features

To enhance our service, the following security features are also employed:

  • A unique Subscriber Number and Personal Identification Number (PIN) are required to log on to Laiki eBank.
  • The Subscriber Number and the PIN are sent to you separately by mail.
  • You have the ability to change your PIN through the system at any time.
  • Once you have logged on to Laiki eBank, after eight minutes of inactivity, we will automatically end your session to help prevent unauthorised access.
  • Your subscription with Laiki eBank is revoked after three unsuccessful consecutive logon attempts. In such case, you have to contact your account holding branch to re-activate your subscription.
  • As an extra security measure, you can transfer up to GBP 2.000 per day to third party accounts. If you want to make a payment to a third party of an amount that exceeds this daily limit, you can do so by contacting your account holding branch.

Security Tips - What can you do?

Laiki eBank takes every possible measure to protect the financial information and resources you have entrusted to us. Despite these measures, any one having access to your Subscriber Number and PIN will be able to access your financial information. As well, as PCs are an important part of daily life, they contain valuable and sometimes sensitive information. It is therefore important that you protect your PC. There is a number of simple steps you can take to improve your security:
  • Never reveal your Personal Identification Number (PIN) to anyone, including Laiki Bank's staff and the police. The Bank’s employees do not need your password and they will not ask for it. Your PIN is designed to protect the privacy of your financial information and you should keep it secret.
  • If you believe that another person has improperly obtained your PIN, you should change it immediately within Laiki eBank by using the "Change PIN" function. You can also ask for a new PIN to be generated and mailed to you by calling your account holding branch during normal working hours (Monday - Friday 9:30 to 17:00).
  • We recommend that you change your PIN from time to time. You may change the PIN within Laiki eBank at any time using the "Change PIN" function.
  • Don’t use a PIN which is easy to guess (e.g. your date of birth).
  • We recommend that you memorise your PIN and that you destroy the slip that the original PIN was printed on. Do not write your PIN down, send it in an e-mail or store it on an electronic device.
  • Check your account statements regularly. If you find out that someone has transferred or may transfer money from your account without your permission, or if you suspect any fraudulent transaction in your account, you should change your PIN immediately and notify your branch at once.
  • Don't leave your computer unattended while using Laiki eBank. Once you have completed your financial transactions, always log off using the "Log Off" button. We also advise you to close your browser window before leaving your computer.
  • Don’t let anyone see you entering your Subscriber Number and PIN, while logging on to Laiki eBank.
  • Avoid using a public computer to access Laiki eBank. Some computer equipment in such places may record your keystrokes and thus capture your Subscriber Number and PIN.
  • Install an anti-virus software and make sure that it is running at all times. This will help protect your system from known viruses, aimed at compromising your PC, which can be sent via attachments within e-mails or by disk. Also, it is important to keep your anti-virus software up-to-date to protect against more recent viruses. You can usually do this by accessing downloads from your anti-virus software supplier.
  • Install a personal firewall to help protect the information held on your system from any unauthorised access attempts. This will reduce the chances of people fraudulently capturing your Subscriber Number and PIN, or accessing your computer whilst you are logged on to Laiki eBank.
