Security Tips
Laiki eBank takes every possible measure to protect the financial information and resources you have entrusted to us. Despite these measures, any one having access to your Subscriber Number and PIN will be able to access your financial information. There is a number of simple steps you can take to improve your security:
- Never reveal your Personal Identification Number (PIN) to anyone, including Laiki Bank's staff. The Bank’s employees do not need your password and they will not ask for it. Your PIN is designed to protect the privacy of your financial information and you should keep it secret.
- If you believe that another person has improperly obtained your PIN, you should change it immediately within Laiki eBank by using the "Administer" function. You can also ask for a new PIN to be generated and mailed to you by calling Laiki Telebank on 8000 2000 (or +357 22 887766 if calling from abroad).
- You may change the PIN within Laiki eBank at any time using the "Administer" function. We recommend that you change your PIN from time to time.
- Don’t use a PIN which is easy to guess (e.g. your date of birth).
- We recommend that you memorise your PIN and that you destroy the slip that the original PIN was printed on. Do not write your PIN down, send it in an e-mail or store it on an electronic device, unless using a method approved by a reputable financial institution.
- Check your account statements regularly. If you find out that someone has transferred or may transfer money from your account without your permission, or if you suspect any fraudulent transaction in your account, you should change your PIN immediately and notify Laiki Telebank or your branch at once.
- Don't leave your computer unattended while using Laiki eBank. Once you have completed your financial transactions, always log off using the Exit button. We also advise you to close your browser window before leaving your computer.
- Don’t let anyone see you entering your Subscriber Number and PIN, while logging on to Laiki eBank.
- Avoid using a public computer to access Laiki eBank. Some computer equipment in such places may record your keystrokes and thus capture your Subscriber Number and PIN.
- In eBanking for Business subscriptions, in the event of the Designated User or the Authorised User ceasing to be a subscriber, we strongly advise the Account Holder to destroy immediately any computer files containing copies of the related Digital Signatures.
- Install an anti-virus software and make sure that it is running at all times. This will help protect your system from known viruses, aimed at compromising your PC, which can be sent via attachments within e-mails or by disk. Also, it is important to keep your anti-virus software up-to-date to protect against more recent viruses. You can usually do this by accessing downloads from your anti-virus software supplier.
- By installing a personal firewall you will help protect the information held on your system from any unauthorised access attempts. This will reduce the chances of people fraudulently capturing your Subscriber Number and PIN, or accessing your computer whilst you are logged on to Laiki eBank.
