DOING BUSINESS IN CYPRUS

КОММЕРЧЕСКАЯ ДЕЯТЕЛЬНОСТЬ НА КИПРЕ

The effort to attract foreign investors to Cyprus dates back in 1975, where the Central Bank of Cyprus and the Government engaged into an effort to make Cyprus known not only for its excellent climatic conditions but also of the fiscal and other benefits that could accrue to potential investors.

As a result Cyprus now poses as an attractive location for International Companies and individuals for a number of reasons and in particular the following:

1. Since May 2004, Cyprus is a full member of the European Union; all rules and compliance regulations relating to the prevention of International Businesses and Money Laundering are in accordance with the European Union directives.

    2. Cyprus has introduced an attractive package of tax incentives, aimed at encouraging companies and individuals to operate out of the island. Such incentives are among the most attractive in EU, with the corporate tax rate being the lowest in Europe at 10%. Furthermore Cyprus boasts of a number of very good quality double taxation treaties.
      3. The well-educated, high quality English speaking workforce feeds the services industry and cover the international businesses’ human resource needs with ease.

      4. The well developed infrastructure, the transportation and communication systems, the hospitality of the Cypriots, the excellent climatic conditions and low crime rates put Cyprus at the forefront of the preferred locations to combine business with comfortable living conditions.

      5. The high standards of living and the comparatively low housing costs on a holiday destination island, that is close to Europe and the Middle East.

The island’s reputation in shipping that has attracted shipping companies from around the world thus classifying Cyprus among the first 10 countries in the world in terms of ship registrations under its name.
