ISSUE OF NEW SERIES OF COVERED BONDS BY MARFIN EGNATIA BANK S.A. (08/05/2010)

Marfin Popular Bank Public Co Ltd announces that Marfin Egnatia Bank S.A., following the approval of the Bank of Greece, issued a new series of (ordinary) covered bonds for the amount of 1 billion euro, within the framework of the existing Programme for the issue of (ordinary) covered bonds of up to 3 billion euro, as applied (Issue Programme), while it cancelled the second series of (ordinary) covered bonds amounting to 500 million euro, the issue of which was decided on 12.03.2010. The agreement of Marfin Popular Bank Public Co Ltd for granting credit facilities to Marfin Egnatia Bank S.A. to secure possible demands of the Covered Bondholders and of all the Secured Creditors, in line with the Issue Programme, continues to apply. Following the above, the total amount of the (ordinary) covered bonds of Marfin Egnatia Bank S.A. is 2 billion euro.
