The ATM industry has implemented important changes to give cardholders greater transparency when using ATMs. The changes are in response to the Reserve Bank of Australia’s request that ATM fees be made clearer to cardholders.
From 3 March 2009, the following arrangements will apply for Laiki Bank cardholders using ATMs, which are not branded by Laiki Bank:
- The amount cardholders will be charged will be displayed on ATM screens, before they proceed with the withdrawal or balance enquiry; and
- All cardholders will be offered the opportunity to discontinue the withdrawal or balance enquiry at no cost, if they do not agree to paying the fee being displayed on the screen.
Laiki Bank customers using Laiki Bank ATMs will not be affected by the new arrangements. Fees will remain as per the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).
To maintain a high level of convenience for Laiki Bank customers, cardholders who use the rediATM network of over 1700 ATMs will also not be affected by the new arrangements. To find out details of the locations of rediATM machines nearest to you, visit www.rediATM.com.au
Due to these changes, as of the 3rd of March 2009, free ATM transactions (as stated in the PDS) will only apply if the transaction is conducted at a Laiki Bank branded ATM, or at a rediATM. No free transactions will be provided for transactions at all other ATMs.
